Today, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Each day for the past nine days, we shared #novenaatnoon on our Facebook and Twitter accounts as a daily reminder for those participating in the Novena to the Sacred Heart.
We continue our prayer of thanksgiving for the newly ordained deacon and priests in the Diocese of Arlington. To view photos from the Ordination Mass, click here.
This week, Bishop Loverde joined his brother bishops at the USCCB General Assembly in St. Louis. For a full recap of the Assembly on social media, search the hashtag #USCCB15.
The Fortnight for Freedom will be held June 21 – July 4. The Office of Respect Life will host a morning of prayer with an address by Rev. David Pignato, S.T.D., J.D., Professor at St. John’s Seminary in Boston.
Bishop Loverde invites all to join him at the opening Mass offered by Archbishop William Lori on Sunday, June 21 at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Baltimore, Maryland. A closing Mass will be celebrated by Cardinal Donald Wuerl with homilist Archbishop Thomas Wenski of Miami, FL, on July 4 at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.
As we draw closer to the Fortnight for Freedom, Bishop Loverde reminds us:
“To bear witness to Christ, to proclaim the Good News in its fullness, requires a willingness to suffer for its sake. We must ask ourselves, “Are we prepared to proclaim the Good News in season and out?”
